Make a circle. Use cardboard to cut a circle and fold in half. This will need to fit in your sock for the mouth.
Trace the circle. Trace the circle twice onto your piece of felt and cut it out.
Secure the felt. Next, use the glue gun to secure the felt to both sides of the cardboard. Allow the glue to dry before using. It is important that the felt is securely glued to the cardboard.
Make a hole in the sock. Cut the toe of the sock off and roll the edges around the felt covered cardboard. Hot glue in place to make your mouth.
Form the eyes and mouth. Hot glue googly eyes to 2 pom pom balls and glue above mouth for eyes.
Cut the felt for the back of puppet. For back spines, cut two long strips of felt and hot glue half of it together, leaving two flaps.
Attach to the sock. Separate flaps and hot glue to back of the sock. Make sure to use enough glue to securely attach the flap to the sock.
Decorate the diy sock puppet as you desire. We added extra pom pom balls and a felt bow tie. Get creative and add your favorite embellishments. It is a great time to see what leftovers are in the craft box.
